Obama’s working on new series for Netflix
Higher Ground, the production house of Barack (59) and Michelle Obama (57), is working on a new miniseries for Netflix. The six-part ‘Blackout’ is set during a power outage in New York.
It is a so-called anthology series, which means that each episode tells a separate story. However, they are all about African American teenagers who find love during the blackout.
In 2018, the Obamas signed a contract with Netflix to produce programs and movies that focus on people or groups who often stay out of the spotlight. So far, they have made animation series Waffles + Mochi and documentaries Crip Camp and American Factory. The latter project won an Oscar in 2020.
